Banish Stinging Ants From Your Garden Area Safely

Whether you have a problem with ants invading your garden or you simply do not want yourself and your children exposed to their hurtful stings, there are simple ways to get rid of stinging ants without making your whole garden area full of toxins. Of course, there are many options for getting rid of ants (stinging ants included) that are full of chemicals that ants do not like. The key though is to find ingredients that the ants do not like to ingest (or that is even poisonous to them) without being dangerous or even unpleasant to the humans who will come into contact with the ingredients put in the garden area.

It may seem that this would be difficult to do, but the truth of the matter is that green gardening has gotten better and better in recent years, and there are more than enough options available that the ants will find poisonous, but the humans will not even notice.

Organic gardening products are the way to go in this case. There are a few good products on the market that are 100% safe for humans (even for children), but that have proven effective at killing off ant populations, stinging or otherwise. Head to your local gardening store to find these products; the staff at a good garden center should be able to point out the different products: those that are toxic and those that are 100% safe.

If even the safest of products does not feel like a good option to you, there are also ways to take care of ants without using any sort of product. While organic ant products are proven to be safe for humans, some gardeners prefer to stay away from all products altogether. If you fit into this category, there are also ways to take care of ants simply by carefully monitoring their activity.

You can kill off ants by destroying their homes; this can be done by closing off the anthill holes. Using big rocks piled together will not work because the ants can simply crawl between them. However, if you cover their hole with bricks, you might just convince them to go elsewhere to build their new home, and hopefully it will be far enough away from your house to keep you, and the ants, happy. Some gardeners pour boiling water down an ant hole, which has mixed results depending on the depth to where the ants are headed. Ultimately, you should kill the queen of the castle, but she will be farthest inside the nest, so the chances of boiling water killing her are not extremely high. However, it’s an idea, and a simple one, which can be tried, and if it does not work, you can move on to a more complex or a more chemical solution.

Finding ant holes can be done by watching where the ants take treasures back to. Setting out something sweet will soon produce an influx of ants to the sweet thing and if you watch where they return to, you will have found their nest. Once you know where their nest is, you can try boiling water, closing the ant hole, and then organic sprays if neither of the first two prove successful.

Organic sprays are taken on by the ants and are brought back into the ant nest, eventually killing the queen inside and infecting all of the other ants. Whether you use boiling water, close off their home, or use an organic spray, there are certainly ways to successfully remove these critters so that you can enjoy your garden once again.
