What Greenhouse Supplies Do You Need

When you get a greenhouse kit you may think that you have everything you need. However, the truth is that you need a lot of greenhouse supplies to go with that greenhouse kit in order to grow plants successfully. Not all greenhouse supplies are necessary, but there are some greenhouse supplies that are must haves for a good and successful greenhouse.

A good greenhouse thermometer is one of the most essential greenhouse supplies you will need to purchase. You will need a thermometer that will record the highest and lowest temperatures that your greenhouse reaches each day. It should also track humidity levels.

Most greenhouse kits come with natural ventilation. However, serious greenhouse gardeners or those that are in certain climates will need additional greenhouse supplies like ventilation fans or vent systems. These ventilation greenhouse supplies are easily found and can be fairly inexpensive depending on the size of your greenhouse.

Greenhouse kits do not come with a heating system. You will need a heating system in order to generate heat for your greenhouse. You can choose solar panels for natural heat and energy or you can choose wood, gas, or electric heaters. Without these greenhouse supplies your plants will not have the warmth needed to grow and flourish.

Misting and fog systems or other greenhouse supplies that generate moisture are also necessary. The greenhouse effect needed for the successful growth of plants cannot be created by heat alone. Moisture must also be present for plants to grow and thrive.

If you live in a climate where summers get particularly heated, you may need additional greenhouse supplies. Cooling systems or shades for your greenhouse kit may be required to avoid over heating your plants. Too much heat will cause plants to wilt quickly.

Shelving is another of the greenhouse supplies that are necessary but do not come as a part of your greenhouse kit. Shelving or tables will be required for potting, holding plants that are growing, trimming, and other gardening activities. A comfortable bench or chair or rollers can also be helpful to avoid standing for long periods of time. Typical gardening supplies will also be needed for your greenhouse gardening.
